Racket technology claims and the problem of testing them on a human
Frame marketing describes measurable properties accurately and then asserts performance outcomes that cannot be isolated once a player adapts to the equipment.

Two very different kinds of statement
A frame has stiffness, swing weight, balance point, head size and string pattern, all of which are measurable to a high degree of precision. A claim about any of those is a factual statement that could be checked with equipment available in any well-run stringing room. A claim that a frame delivers more power or more control is a statement about what happens when a person swings it.
That second statement depends on the person, and it can be true for one player while being false for another using the same frame. Marketing routinely presents the second type with the confidence appropriate to the first.
Adaptation erases the effect being measured
A player handed a stiffer frame does not simply produce stiffer-frame outcomes; they modify grip pressure, swing length and contact point in response. The adaptation is largely unconscious and begins immediately, so the pure equipment effect exists only during the first few strikes. By the time performance can be assessed over a meaningful number of points, the player and the frame have converged on a joint behaviour.
Any measurement taken afterwards captures that joint behaviour rather than the property the claim was about. This is not a solvable measurement problem; it is a feature of how skilled movement works.
Familiarity as the dominant variable
Switching frames imposes a cost that has nothing to do with the frame, because timing has been calibrated to a specific mass distribution over years. A player who performs worse immediately after a switch is exhibiting the cost of switching, not a defect in the new equipment. A player who performs better may be experiencing the attention and motivation that accompany a deliberate change.
Both effects run in the same window as any genuine equipment effect, and none of them is separable in ordinary play. Extended parallel testing would help, and it is expensive enough that almost nobody does it properly.
Why blinded testing barely exists
A player can feel the difference between frames instantly through weight and balance, which makes concealment of the treatment nearly impossible. Without concealment, expectation influences both the perception and the effort applied, and neither can be subtracted afterwards. Matched-weight frames with hidden internal differences would allow partial blinding for some properties but not for the most consequential ones.
The result is that the strongest evidence available on frame performance comes from unblinded users with a stake in the answer. That is a weak evidential base for claims stated as though they were engineering specifications.
What can be said without overreaching
It is fair to say that a frame with a particular swing weight will require more effort to accelerate and will resist twisting more on off-centre contact. Those are consequences of physics that follow from the measured properties and do not depend on who is holding the racket. It is not fair to convert them into a promise about a player results, because the player will reorganise around whatever they are given.
The gap between a measurable property and a performance outcome is where equipment marketing does most of its work. Recognising the gap does not require assuming anyone is being dishonest about the measurements. It only requires noticing that the measured number and the promised outcome are separated by a person who will adapt to whatever they hold.
